Round Four of the RaboDirect Pro 12 opened on Friday night with The Ospreys away to Scarlets in front of over 14,000 fans. We all expected Scarlets to continue their winning ways, but it was the Ospreys who were on fire, couple this with a poor day with the boot for Rhys Priestland and they were lucky to salvage a bonus point. The first period was all the boot as Ospreys went in 6-9 to the good. The second period and the visitors stretched out to 9-23 with tries from Ryan Jones and Hanno Dirksen, both converted by Dan Biggar. George North went over for Scarlets late on with a controversial score to give us the final score of 16-23. The other Friday night game went much more to script as Warriors beat Connacht 27-17, having been 15-10 to the good at the break. The home side scored 4 tries to 2 and so took the bonus points as well.
Saturdays games all went pretty much as expected as Leinster beat Edinburgh 22-16 in front of the biggest crowd of the weekend. This one was tight right until the final whistle as the home side pushed on from 10-6 at the break. next up the Blues hosted Treviso who as ever are not as strong on the road as at home. The home side took a comfortable win 34-18, having been 17-3 up at the break. The last game of the weekend saw Munster host the Dragons and here 15,000 were treated to a home win 33-13. 14-6 up at half time, Munster pushed on to score 5 tries in total to just the 1 to the Dragons. This win puts Munster in second place one point behind the Scarlets on 15. The Blues are in third also on 14 but it is early days with just four games played.
