Argentina have reached the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals after beating Georgia in Palmerston North on Sunday.
The South Americans scored three tries to one to secure second spot behind table toppers England. Scotland, who lost 16- 12 to England last night, needed Georgia to win by eight points to progress.
Argentina needed just a point to qualify struggled to break through the Georgia defence.
In the 33rd minute Julio Farias freed Juan Jose Imhoff to touch down in the corner to break the deadlock. Georgia hit back soon after and took the to halftime with the conversion.
But a try to Contepomi seemed to kill off the Lelos and enabled the Pumas to secure a last –
eight tie against hosts New Zealand.
