New Zealand’s Black Ferns had the ideal start to the 2010 Rugby Women’s World Cup as they powered past a young but robust South Africa, however the frightening thing for all the other sides is this was not a perfect display. Within 3 minutes
scored the first of four tries, with Kelly Brazier adding the conversion. 7 Minutes and the Ferns had their second try when number 2 Fiao’o Fa’amuausici powered over, Brazier adding the conversion 14-0. South Africa had the first of 2 penalty attempts in the first half which missed and so the rest of the half saw the Ferns run in further tries on 11 minutes to Kelly Brazier, 16 minutes Hohepa got her second, 21 minutes Huriana Manuel went over, 31 minutes and Manuel got her second. Brazier converting two of these to give us the half-time score of 38-0.
The second period and the Kiwis were into the wind making things a bit tougher but on 44 minutes the try feast continued as Hohepa bagged her third and 10 minutes later her fourth. On 64 minutes South Africa posted their first and deserved points as Zandile Nojoko kicked her 4th attempt at a penalty. The Black Ferns then rounded of their day with number 8 and player of the match Casey Robertson powering over to give us the final score of:
New Zealand 55- South Africa 3
