The Blues will sport unique jerseys for their home clash against the Crusaders for the second Super XV game of the season, donning the jerseys for one night only to help raise funds, and awareness, for the Men’s Health Trust New Zealand.
The jerseys, utilising the traditional ‘Harlequin’ design, boast the colours of the three unions which make up the franchise – Auckland, North Harbour and Northland – and feature the Men’s Health Trust NZ log on the collar.
To maximise the exposure of their cause a fund-raising event will be held on the Wednesday night prior to the match, which will be attended by the entire squad and will feature current coach Sir John Kirwan and former halfback Steve Devine on the list of guest speakers.
The 22 jerseys, plus one signed by Keven Mealamu and another signed by the whole squad, will be auctioned at that event, before being worn by the players in the match against the Crusaders at Eden Park two days later.
