South African Super Rugby side the Vodacom Bulls have officially released their home and away jerseys for the 2014 Super Rugby season.
Both the the home and away shirts are supplied by German brand Puma and they feature a unique camouflage design on the front and the kit launch uses the theme “InvisBull” based on the fact that camouflage is intended to make its wearers invisible.
The 2014 Bulls home jersey is in the club’s traditional blue while the away shirt used a military looking khaki green and brown. The Bulls say that the inspiration behind the use of camo for their 2014 uniforms is the fact that it is now a major seasonal fashion trend across the globe.
IOL Sport and one of South Africa’s top fashion designers David Tlale mentioned “It evokes war. They look like an army group.” The new kits were also greeted with mixed feelings by Bulls supporters.
The bulls will be looking to repeat the success of last season where they managed to reach the semi-finals losing to the ACT Brumbies 23 to 26. The club’s marquee player Morne Steyn was the leading point scorer with 248 points over second placed Brumbie’s Fly Half Christian Lealiifano with 233 points.
