Dan Carter made his long-awaited return via club rugby on Saturday. Carter has been out for six months after sustaining an Achilles injury while playing for French champions Perpignan, but he returned to action for Southbridge in Christchurch on saturday, helping his side to a 34-13 win over Hornby.
Afterwards Carter said he hopes to play for Canterbury next weekend against North Harbour in the Air New Zealand Cup. (quote) You can do so much rehab and get in the gym and do speed work … but until you’re out on the field its different so it’s a start and I really enjoyed it, I haven’t really thought too much about the All Blacks. I just want to get back playing rugby. I’ll see if Pens (Canterbury coach Rob Penney) wants me for next week. I’ll be available. (end quote)
