Using images tinged with a decidedly ’60’s Instagram’ effect and featuring custom-painted London cabs in their promotional material CCC have released new Home and Away kits for the England Sevens teams ahead of the two British legs of the IRB Sevens circuit for the men and the Dutch round of the Women’s competition.
The Home kit, which will be worn by both the Mens and Womens sides in the coming tournaments, is primarily white, with a retro triangle design in muted reds and blues across the entire torso of the shirts. A red CCC logo is emblazoned on one shoulder, while England’s Rose is front and centre under the collar. Shorts will be white, while the socks are white with a thick red hoop at the top.
The Away kit is even more flamboyant, with an abstract pattern in tie-dyed tones covering the bulk of the shirt. Dark blue sleeves are highlighted with bold yellow collars, with the shirt being complemented by dark blue shorts and socks, the socks bearing a yellow stripe at the top.
For England’s Men the season to date has been a disappointing one. Traditionally one of the competition’s pace-setters they currently sit in 10th place on the 2012/13 competition ladder, with victory in New Zealand’s Wellington leg the only shining light in an otherwise underwhelming list of achievements.
In stark contrast the Women have everything to play for, sitting in second place behind New Zealand with one round remaining. After starting their campaign slowly in Dubai they have found form recently, beating the Kiwis in the USA leg and making the final in China recently, giving themselves an outside chance of claiming the overall title in the Netherlands in mid May.
