St. Helens travelled to Bridgend in expectation of an easy run, but when their opening pressure came to nothing Crusaders could have been on the score sheet first, but for a knock on over the whitewash. A couple of key injuries to half-back and captain Jace van Dijk and top try-scorer Tony Duggan did not help the home sides cause. But their stout defence meant the sides went in at the break locked on 0-0. St. Helens had the best of the second half pressure, thought they made a lot of errors with dropped balls at key moments. The game was almost into the last 20 when they eventually managed to score thanks to Tom Armstrong. The conversion was missed thus giving us the final score of:
