The Cook Islands play their home games in Green and yellow shirts, with green shorts and socks. Though for the Rugby League World Cup on 2013 they added white to the front in a striking shirt. The team are based at the Avarua National Stadium and prior to the 2013 World Cup were ranked 14th in the Rugby League World order.
The Cook Islands national rugby league team played their first international in Niue during 1986, winning 8-22. Since then they have developed fast and having failed to win any games in qualification for the 2008 World Cup held in Australia and won by New Zealand. The Cook Islands had a great year in 2009, when they participated in the 2009 Pacific Cup. Having beaten Samoa to earn a place in the tournament, they went on to defeat favourites Fiji and earn a place in the final of the competition. They have been in two Rugby League World Cups, 2000 and 2013.
