They were founded in 1995 and play their home games in the 27,000 capacity Dairy Farmers Stadium, Kirwan, Thuringowa in North Queensland.
North Queensland Cowboys have reached one Grand Final in 2005, losing out to West's Tigers by 30-16, though they did better in 2007 for the season finishing 3rd overall, but did not win through to the final.
