The special edition jerseys worn will feature both the West Coast Rugby Union and Crusaders logos on the red and white hoops. The NZRU and jersey manufacturer adidas have approved the move and for the special edition jersey concept. All the jerseys from the game will be signed by each player that wears them and will be auctioned for the Pike River Mine mayoral fund.

Todd Blackadder Crusaders head coach said:

“We all feel for the West Coast community in this extremely tough time. The Coast is an important part of the Crusaders family … wearing their jersey … we can try to lift their spirits. We’re all looking forward to … paying special tribute to the community by wearing the red and white hoops of the West Coast in our first home game.”
