The unfortunate Centre also missed the 2003 World Cup with an injury. He is the second leading South African player to be ruled out of this year’s tournament in France following the withdrawal of number eight Pierre Spies because of clots on his lungs.
Wayne Julies was called up on today as a replacement and will be available for Friday’s Pool A game against England.
