England Stutter Towards Slam – England 22-16 Scotland

Scotland gave a stuttering England a massive fright as they competed from the first whistle to last. The Scots were first on the score sheet with a Chris Paterson penalty, cancelled out by Toby Flood’s penalty. The went on to trade further kicks and the first half was closed out at 9-9 by a last minute drop goal to Ruaridh Jackson.

Flood put England 12-9 up as John Barclay went to the sin-bin. Then just as he was about to return Tom Croft ended a sweet move with a try and although Max Evans grabbed a converted try for the Scots, a Jonny Wilkinson penalty confirmed victory. Final score:
