Officially launched on the 23rd of April on St. Georges Day, England have revealed their new home and away kits for the England Sevens Rugby team.
The new home and away shirts were inspired by the St George and the George Cross Medal. Transportation company Heathrow Express will feature on tyhe front of the shirt as the main sponsor. Both shirts have been inspired by patriotic spirit at the heart revealing a white plain base with a sea of crosses emblazioned on both shirts.
The Patriotic crosses on the shirts feature seven stripes on the sleeve hems to honour each player of the team. The home shirt is classic white with white shorts and socks while the away kit is midnight blue influenced by the blue socks introduced to England Rugby in the 1930s.
Canterbury CEO Chris Stephenson said, “We wanted to create a shirt that would inspire the England Sevens fans to come together and unite as one nation in the true meaning of ‘England Is All’ and with the patriotism this shirt represents it was only right that we launched it today on St George’s Day.”
Chief Commercial Officer at England Rugby Football Union, Sophie Goldschmidt said, “Representing their country in an England shirt is always a very proud moment for the players. It’s fantastic that Canterbury has designed such a patriotic shirt to encourage fans to really get behind the team.”
