Fiji play their home games in strip of white and black shirts with the palm tree motif, black shorts and socks. The strip has been worn by some well known names in the sport quite a few of which have also donned the black shirt of New Zealand. Rupeni Caucaunibuca, Vilimoni Delasau, Seru Rabeni, Vili Satala, Marika Vunibaka, Mosese Luveitasau and the best known magnificent sevens player Waisale Serevi who seemed to play for ever.
The first game played by a side organised by the Fiji RFU was against the All Blacks in December 1913. The first official international however, was played against Samoa in Apia on the 18 August 1924. The game was played early in the morning so the local players could go to work and Fiji won 6-0.
Fiji are a pre-eminent side on the World Sevens circuit but they struggle to transfer this to the 15 man game. Perhaps it is their natural flair and exuberance that means they just cannot play in a structured fashion. Whatever the reasons they are another team who can frighten the top level sides and occasionally win but not often enough to take them into the top flight.
