Rugby First Aid Kits

First Aid is the first action taken to help players injured during games or training. It should only be administered by those who have been trained. If in doubt cover the player and call for an ambulance and trained medical staff.

Basic Equipment

The first items used by physios and players is strapping for fingers etc. This is usually tape that will give a little so as not to inhibit circulation. The other use of tape is by the lineout jumpers to offer a grip surface for the lifters. Usually an elastic tape with electric style tape to keep it in place.

Pitch Side Repairs

There are various types of first aid kits available for running repairs on the side of the pitch or in the changing rooms, usually include tape, stitch strips or sutures, plus antiseptics, scissors, gloves and swabs. These should only be used by qualified personnel.
