The French Top 14 produced some surprises and some storming games over the weekend. Things kicked off in Toulon on Friday night where the home side slowly but surely did for Montpellier 19-6, though it could have been more if Jonny Wilkinson had kicked all his goals. Saturday and the majority of games went off at 13:15. With Perpignan letting us down away to the ever improving Argen, Argen 22-17 Perpignan. Biarritz must have been pleased that Yachvili was not needed by France as he had a stormer helping them to a comforatble win Biarritz 38-13 Bordeaux. Meanwhile Brive also decided to prove us wrong as they saw of Stade Francais Paris 25-9. The Racing Métro Bayonne game was a tight affair which the home side hung on to win 22-21. The mid afternoon game was a craker as Toulouse travelled to Clermont in a top of the table clash with both teams stripped of their French Internationals. This perhaps caused more problems for Toulouse than Clermont as the home side racked up 35 points to Toulouse’s 5 a convincing win in any terms. The last match of the weekend was not the best as Castres and Lyon fought out a 6-6 draw, better news for Lyon than Castres.
So how did the predictions go well we called four correctly, with two way off and of course the draw.
