Georgia continued their good form in New Zealand 2011. They beat local rivals Romania 25-9 and only went down to Scotland 15-6. They were also competitive against Argentina and England and most certainly went home with heads held high. Following this showing and presuming they can stay competitive and find some youth there is every chance they will secure qualification for the next Rugby World Cup in 2015.

Georgia beat neighbours Russia 36-8 to not only retain the European Nations Cup crown but also confirm themselves as the Europe 1 qualifier for Rugby World Cup 2011 in New Zealand. This puts them into their third World Cup final and they have progressed with just one loss against Romania.

Before Perestroika, Georgia was in fact part of the USSR Rugby setup, they received full IRB member status in 1992 and are now ranked 14th in the world.

Georgia's Rugby World Cup shirtGeorgia have new shirts in time for the World Cup in New Zealand. The shirts were launched during June. Although they have stayed true to the red colours the shirt is very different to all previous versions, with white under arms with the george Cross flags on the left sleeve. Georgia's strength is in their front 8, many of the pack ply their trade in the higher leagues of European club rugby. They will hope to emulate their results in France having won one of their pool games in 2007, beating Namibia 30-0. Georgia will be grouped with Argentina, England, Romania and Scotland who they meet in Dunedin on 14 September 2011 in Pool B.
