Round Four of the Sevens World Series 2012/13 in Wellington results Day Two Finals.
What a weekend and what set of finals. Not least England’s extra time win against Kenya, a throw back to the last win in 2009 when they came from behind to beat new Zealand. This time they really made it hard as for the first time all weekend they fell off tackles and made unforced errors. 12-19 down at the break and on the way out as the clock ran down it was two yellow cards that saved the day as first England clawed back the try under the posts to level and then turned over and dotted down for the win 24-19.
The Plate Final game went to Australia as Scotland shipped 12 points whilst down to 6 men leaving them with to much to do. This was 7-22 at half-time and no further points were added in the second period. Canada did for Fiji to compound their bad weekend 28-19 and Wales had to work hard to take the narrow win against Tonga.
For New Zealand a third place win extended their lead at the top of the table but they had to work hard against Samoa. Meanwhile Kenya in second place on the table look a good bet to take a title soon.
next up 8-10 February USA and Las Vegas which we will preview during next week.

Womens World Series
England Women beat the USA for the second time in the IRB Womens World Series Sevens to take the crown in Houston 29-12.
An exciting weekend saw England V Netherlands 19-14, Canada v New Zealand 10-12, USA v Russia 15-7 and Australia v South Africa 17-12 results in the quarter finals. England then went on to beat New Zealand 19-12 and the USA Australia 17-5 in the semi-finals to set up the ideal clash for the home fans. England however were just to strong.
This leaves the standings as NZ 34, Australia 30, England 28 points as the top three.
