London Irish also known as the Exiles were formed in London in 1898 and followed the forming of London Welsh and Scottish offering rugby to the Irish in the City. The club is now a mixture and has few Irish players. It has also moved match's to the Madejski Stadium, Junction 11 M4, Reading RG2 0FL. Though its training base is still Sunbury on the outskirts of London.

Irish do not have a pedigree of winning cups and leagues and to date their only success was in winning the Powergen Cup in 2002. They are however a very ambitious club who invest in the future and 2006/7 they gained a place in the Heineken Cup for the first time.
