Namibia play their home games in strip of blue shirts with red collars and white side flashes. The shirt has been worn to some success in reaching the RWC finals in 1999, 2003 and 2007. Though to date they have not achieved a win in the pool stages.
Namibia played their first international match against the British Lions touring side in July 1955 going down a very creditable 0-9. The Namibians although they continued to meet sides did not actually form their union until 1990, joining the IRB the same year. They compete in the Africa Cup and Rugby World Cup (RWC). Until independence, players for Namibia were also eligible to represent South Africa, with Namibian born Springboks including Jan Ellis and, more recently, Percy Montgomery.
