Newcastle play their home games in strip comprising a black shirt, a big change from the original strip of shirts with green and white hoops. Newcastle have had some well known faces pull on their shirt such as; Jack Rowell, Roger Uttley, Peter Dixon and David Robinson from the days before professional rugby to Rob Andrew the clubs first Director of rugby and at the same time a player. Though the highest profile is world cup winning drop kicker Jonny Wilkinson.
Newcastle Falcons Rugby Football Club was formed in 1877, when they were called Gosforth Football Club having been created by a group of Durham School old boys. Newcastle play their home games at; Kingston Park, Brunton Road, Kenton Bank Foot, Newcastle Upon Tyne NE13 8AF, which has been their home since 1990 when they were known as Newcastle Gosforth.
The Falcons have been in the Premier League since its inception but have not featured in the top three since the early days when they won the Allied Dunbar Premiership 1997/98. They have a better record in the cup; John Player Cup/Powergen Cup winners 1976 1977 2001 2004.
