Bradford Bulls captain Paul Deacon has signed a new two-year contract that will keep him at the Grattan Stadium until the end of the 2010 season. This will put him at nearly 32 when his contract expires making it very likely that the Bulls will be his last club. The 29-year-old Wigan-born scrum-half, who is now in his testimonial season, holds two club records with 1,002 goals and 2,306 points in 292 appearances since joining the Bulls from Oldham in 1998.
Deacon is the engage Super League’s leading kicker so far this season with 42 goals from 49 attempts, although he is currently out of action after undergoing minor knee surgery, so could get overtaken.
