The Aviva Premiership Rugby 2013/14 Season Round Six.
Bath Gloucester opened up the return of the Premiership on Friday night with a close fought encounter. Bath eventually taking the spoils 15-13 from 9-3 at half-time. The match was totally one for the number 19’s with George Ford kicking five penalties to Freddie Burns try, conversion and two penalties.
Saturday and we had three games. First up Exeter Chiefs added to the woe of Worcester Warriors with a 40-5 win. The majority of the points coming in the second half as it was 14-6 at the break. So to Harlequins who were looking to break their losing streak. Unfortunately for Sale Sharks they were the team to provide it going down 24-3. Having been 9-3 down at the break, thanks to Ben Bodica kicking three penalties to Danny Cipriani’s one. The second period and Quins clinched things with a try by Luke Wallace converted by Ben.
Last for Saturday was a smashing win for Northampton Saints over league leaders Saracens 41-20. This was a case of the Saints taking control in all areas. They were already 17-6 in the lead by half-time and totally outclassed Saracens.
Sunday we had two games and first up was a tense affair at Adams Park which was controlled by the head and boot of Andy Goode. London Wasps won the encounter 22-12 thanks to playing into the wind in the first half and going into the break 13-9 to the good. In the second period they controlled Tigers attacks and Goodes boot did the damage to stretch them out and even deny the bonus point. Last up and Newcastle Falcons hosted London Irish. This was another tight affair which like Wasps was to some degree affected by the strong winds and rain. The final score was 13-11 to the hosts the Newcastle Falcons as they came from behind at half-time 6-8. Poor Irish just cannot get over the finishing line as Falcons scored the winning try fifteen minutes from the final whistle then hung on.
So one wrong call as Wasps took the result against Leicester Tigers. Here are all the results:
