Romania team versus Italy

Romania head coach Daniel Santamans has announced his team to play Italy in their opening World Cup Pool C match at The Velodrome in Marseille on Wednesday. He has named a powerful pack, led by captain and second row Sorin Socol. Romania will look to continue from where they left off in 2004 when they beat Italy 25-24. Fly half Ionut Dimofte will be crucial in injecting some life into a back line that includes centre Romeo Gontineac, a veteran of four world cups. Wing Catalin Fercu makes his cup debut just after turning 21 on 5 September.
