The Bulls forgot to pack a game plan or their trade-mark passion when they left Pretoria for Christchurch last week, turning in a tepid display on Saturday night as the Crusaders cruised in to the Semi-finals.
For a team which boasts one of the games most astute tactical kickers in Morne Steyn the Bulls looked woefully rudderless for the bulk of the encounter, while the Crusaders played within themselves, doing only what was necessary to secure victory in what was a relatively disappointing encounter.
The Bulls were inaccurate from the outset, and provided the Crusaders with more opportunities and territory than they needed, and while they held the red and blacks to a lone try they gave Dan Carter far too many chances to kick at goal, most of which he accepted.
A late try from the Bulls narrowed the scoreline, but the Crusaders cantered to their 28-13 win, and now eye the Chiefs in a re-match of their clash from a fortnight ago.
