St. Helens were made to work hard to secure their third Challenge Cup win in a row. Leading 10-0 at half time thanks to scores from Matt Gidley and Francis Meli. The second half saw a Hull fight back and with two tries to Kirk Yeaman both converted by Danny Tickle they went into the last 15 minutes leading 12-10. Perhaps the effort had been too much but Hull then fell off tackles and Saints went back in front through tries by Francis Meli with his second, Jon Wilkin and Leon Pryce.
