This low scoring affair saw Scotland looking the better team as they enjoyed long spells with the ball, but could not break down the stubborn Irish defence. It was Ireland who posted the first points thanks to the boot of Sexton and so they went in 3-0 up at half time.
The second period and it was more of the same and on 49 minutes Scotland levelled thanks to a Paterson penalty. Ireland then went back in front with a second Sexton penalty. The game was then rounded out with the last-gasp Ansbro try to give Scotland the win against Ireland and the final score of:
