Here are the pool results from the Saturday’s games in the Hong Kong leg of the IRB HSBC Cathay Pacific Sevens World Series 2012/13. Also the qualifier competition for selection to next years competition. We had a few wrong again as both England and South Africa had bad days, also Samoa losing to Portugal was a real surprise given that England then went on to beat Portugal. We had also anticipated the home crowd lifting Hong Kong and although they ran it close they could not manage the win.
So our selections to progress to the main competition were wrong by three, with England, South Africa and Spain being replaced by Canada, Portugal and Australia. So far this has been one of the closest fought of any competitions. It is looking good for a Kenya New Zealand final. The Bowl should be a very tight affair England have a good chance if they can see off France, though then they will have to meet South Africa who should be strong enough against Spain.
