The Sharks are a Super 15 franchise one of the five in South Africa. They are based in Durban and centred around the Natal Sharks union, also based in Durban and drawing players from all of KwaZulu-Natal Province.

The Sharks play their home games in the 52,000 Kings Park or ABSA Stadium, Durban, South Africa. The side was called Natal until 1997 and in the Super 12's have a proud reputation for reaching the finals twice though on both occasions they lost.
