Week Six and some surprises given previous form. The Canes got done by the Cheetahs their first win on the road, the Reds and Bulls both failed at least they were away from home.
The weekend started with the Highlanders giving a better account of themselves and winning 43-12 against the Rebels. Then we had the amazing Wellington show as the Hurricanes managed to hand the win to the Cheetahs who had their fast expansive game paying off at last 38-47 to the Cheetahs. The Chiefs gave a lesson to the Waratahs and the score of 30-13 was a fair reflection of the game. Next up and another wrong one for us as the Brumbies could not cope with the power of the Sharks tight one this but it went 26-29 in favour of the Sharks. The Force have often looked like they could cut loose and Saturday was the day as they punished the Reds in every area of the park. Hitting rucks and all breakdowns with more pace and using the ball with sweet offloads. This was the game of the weekend and a treat for all who saw it. Force 45-19 Reds. We called the next one as the Crusaders struggled again this week, but managed to hold on and beat the Lions Lions 13-23 Crusaders. The last game of the weekend and we had expected the Bulls power play to continue, but as usual the Stormers prove they are resilient and played too a well deserved win 20-17.
