Makos ITM Cup Jersey

The Makos home strip is red and white shirts with blue shorts and the strip is proudly worn by many players who have come up through the ranks of local club rugby as well as some who have gone on to Super Rugby Contracts.

The Tasman Makos came into being following the New Zealand Rugby Union reviewing its domestic competitions in 2005, they created a new 14 team competition known as the Air New Zealand Cup to replace the NPC, which has now changed to the ITM Cup.

This restructure created a unique opportunity for the Nelson Bays and Marlborough rugby unions to combine and form one organisation with the aim of securing a position in the new competition. This they did and in 2006 Tasman competed in the first season of the ANZ Cup.

Tasman have two home venues and they are: Lansdowne Park in Blenheim revamped in early 2006 to meet NZRU standards and Trafalgar Park in Nelson upgraded in time for the 2010 season, enabling both venues to host night games. Both provinces have benefited from hosting Tasman Makos Air NZ Cup matches.
