London Wasps Director of Rugby, Tony Hanks, has named Tom Rees as Club Captain for the 2009/10 season.
A product of the Wasps Academy, the 24 year old Wasps and England flanker has already been recognised within the Club as a key leader, both on and off the pitch, captaining the side in the latter half of 2008/09 following the departure of Raphael Ibanez.
Rees follows in the footsteps of legendry figures of both the club and international game including Dean Ryan, Lawrence Dallaglio, Ibanez and more recently Serge Betsen and Phil Vickery who donned the captains armband last season. Taking on the next chapter in this legacy, the widely respected Rees, who has been identified amongst not only his peers but his opponents as a stand out flanker in domestic, European and increasingly international rugby, he holds an impressive list of Club accolades with a Heineken Cup and Guinness Premiership winners medal already to his name.
We look forward to Rees leading his club to many honours over the coming season.
