France Top 14 2013/14 season Round Seven brought us a couple of extremes as Clermont got thrashed 43-3 by Montpellier and Paris won at Oyonnax 15-16, taking their home record on route.
So if we look at the complete set of results we had three wrong calls. Starting with Clermont on Friday night. This was a battle of the boot and Montpellier won it eight one. Montpellier were already out of sight at 26-3 at the break, going on to win 43-3. next to Toulouse on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Castres came with high expectations and everyone expected and got a high quality contest. Luke Mcalister was the difference in this kicking three penalties, one conversion and scoring a try. Toulouse were up 11-6 at the break and went on to win 26-9, keeping Castres scoreless in the second period. Brive Perpignan was a thriller with a surprise result, the home side running out 31-6 winners a convincing scoreline. 16-6 at the break and no way back for the visitors who everyone expected to take the spoils.
Biarritz are having a torrid time this season and coming to the must win stage. Saturday was however not to be as they went down at home to Grenoble 21-27. Nice to get a bonus point but it is wins that are needed now. The scoreline here was 9-17 at the break.
The last three games saw first up Racing Metro hosting Bordeaux and winning 26-19. This was 18-10 at half-time and the home side was in control. Bordeaux did give a good fist of it but could not close the gap. So to Toulon and Pilau, Pilau. This game for a change with Toulon was two tries to nil to Toulon that won the day. Half-time score was 8-6. last up and to Oyonnax looking for a win and at home. It was not to be as they went doen to a narrow defeat 15-16. The scores having been tied at 9-9 at the break.
