London Wasps who were originally just called Wasps Rugby Union Football Club were formed in 1867. It is said that they took the name purely as it was the fashion at the time to name sports clubs after insects. Wasps play their home games at; Adams park, Hillbottom Road, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire HP12 4HJ. Until recently they played at the ground they owned in Sudbury still considered home by many of the older fans.

Wasps can still claim to be one of the most successful clubs in England if not the world, certainly in the modern game they have been at the top for many years winning all the trophies on offer at some time; Heineken Cup 2003/4, English Champions 989/90, 1996/97, 2002/03, 2003/04, 2004/05 the last three finishing the season 2nd and winning the final, Tetley's Bitter Cup & Powergen Cup 1998/99, 1999/2000, 2005/06, Parker Pen Challenge Cup 2002/03 and the Middlesex 7s Tournament 1948, 1952, 1985, 1993 and 2006.
