Los Pumas play in a hooped shirt in the country colours of sky blue and white with sky blue sleeves, white shorts, and hooped socks in sky blue and white. The emblem on the shirts is a jaguar and not a Puma as most people would expect. A few well known players who have pulled on the blue and white are; Felipe Contepomi, Diego Dominguez, Patricio Noriega who went on to play for Australia, Agustín Pichot and the magical Hugo Porta.

Argentina played their first international fixture on the 12 July 1910 when they lost 3-28 in Buenos Aires to a Great Britain XV managed by Oxford University. The Pumas as they are nicknamed are one of the top second tire nations and have a reputation for producing formidable packs of forwards. They play their home games in the; Estadio Raul Conti in Puerto Madryn and Velez Sarsfield in Buenos Aires.
Argentina have always fringed on the top level of world rugby rankings competing with and beating most of the old original sides such as Wales, Scotland, France and even England on occasion. They are yet to reach the top table with wins over New Zealand. But they will always compete with the best and when their formidable packs are on song can create upsets, especially now they are involved in the annual southern hemisphere tournament, known now as The Championship.
