Described as a meeting of the old and the new, Canterbury’s first England kit of their new four-year deal has just been released, with Drybrook Rugby Club in Gloucester chosen as the venue for the unveiling.

While the Home shirt is highly traditional, with a white shirt sporting the red rose of England, white shorts and midnight blue socks, the Away kit is definitely a change of direction, moving away from the black of Nike’s Away kit that featured in the 2011 World Cup to a bold colour scheme which is primarily ‘regal purple’.
Designed to reflect England’s standing as part of ‘Rugby’s Royalty’, the kit features striking gold detailing, while the purple theme is also continued in to the exclusive ‘Presentation Jacket’ which will be worn by long-serving senior members of the side during the playing of the national anthems prior to kickoff.
Drybrook was selected, according to Canterbury spokespeople, because it embodies community rugby in England, and the emphasis on this community is further reflected with the words ‘England Connected’ printed on the inside of the sleeves of the new shirts.
