Following an encouraging start to life in the Super XV the Southern Kings have finally attracted a key sponsor, with Aveng Group’s logo set to grace their jerseys from now on.
After making their first appearance in the Southern Hemipshere’s premier competition wearing unbranded shirts the Kings debuted their new kit against fellow South African side the Sharks, where they performed admirably in a tight loss to a team widely expected to be in title contention at the business end of the season.
The deal with Aveng Group, a multi-national organisation which fittingly also has a presence in Australia and New Zealand, will encompass both the Kings Super XV franchise and the Eastern Province Currie Cup team.
The two entities already shared common ground, with the Southern Kings playing their home games at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium, a facility constructed by the Aveng Group in 2009.
