Amongst an extensive list of Super Rugby debutants named in John Kirwan’s Blues squad for 2013 is Bryn Hall, a robust halfback with immense potential.
Born in Auckland, and having captained the New Zealand U20 team in the 2012 IRB Junior World Championships, Hall’s natural leadership qualities are reflected in his confident play behind the pack and his ability, even at a young age, to marshal his backline.
Making his ITM Cup debut this year in a North Harbour team which endured a challenging season, winning just one of their games in the second-tier Championship, Hall nonetheless did enough to impress Kirwan, and will join a Super XV franchise looking to rebuild after a season which ranks as the decorated sides’ worst ever.
At 6ft tall, the 20-year old is a large halfback who brings a physical aspect to his game, yet his speed and agility, (assets which contributed to his selection in a number of under-age New Zealand Touch sides) is undeniable.
