Taranaki play their home games in yellow shirts with thick black bands, black shorts and socks. The away strip is yellow shirts with black sides, black shorts and yellow socks. The shirt has been worn with pride whilst hosting visiting International sides and the best result todate was a 3 all draw against South Africa.
Taranaki Rugby Football Union is the governing body of Rugby in the New Zealand province of Taranaki. The main stadium is the 25,000 capacity Yarrow Stadium, Westown, New Plymouth. The union was formed in 1899 although it is said they played as early as 1885.
Taranaki currently play in the Air New Zealand Cup and have produced a string of All Blacks over the years. They along with Manawatu, Wanganui, Hawke's Bay, Poverty Bay, East Coast, Horowhenua-Kapiti, Wairarapa Bush and Wellington are in the Hurricanes Super 14 catchment area.
